What does it mean ‘to show promise’?
When individuals show creative “promise,” does that suggest an expectation, a debt or a responsibility to society? What is the cost of withholding one’s creativity? What is the danger of capitalizing on it?
The new opera, PROMISE is unlike traditional operas in that it is intended to be performed in an intimate setting, with the audience close to and surrounded by the set and performers.
This piece uses images of Camille’s work, as well as elements of dance, voice and theatre. At times it is through the voices of the sculptures that the audience learns about the circumstances and emotions Camille is feeling as she works on them.
